The Duo
The Passepartout Piano Duo formed in 2011. Willing to explore different styles and making a priority from creating an enjoyable performance for their audience, the duo present a variety of works, ranging from classical to modern, both original compositions and transcriptions, also performing jazz and popular tunes.
Notably the duo have performed in London at the Elgar Room, Royal Albert Hall, St. Mary's Perivale, the RCM, Heath Street Baptist Church, St James's Church Bushey, St. George the Martyr Notting Hill, St. Sepulchre Church, Kensington Central Library, Dartford Parish Church, in Windsor, Faversham, Sittingbourne and Brighton, UK. Internationally, the duo has performed various repertoires in Tokyo, Japan, as well as Cluj and Arcus, in Romania, and Albignac, in France. They are also frequently requested for private engagements for companies and individuals. Their philanthropic work consists of performing for care homes, hospitals, various charities and schools. The Passepartout Piano Duo are Live Music Now alumni.
Alexandra and Nathan are both passionate educators, recording a variety of teaching repertoire on their Youtube page, as well as offering masterclasses, most recently in Japan in the summer of 2016, at St. Mary's International School and at the Christian Academy Japan, both in Tokyo. More recently the duo has started to perform Nathan's own compositions and arrangements, planning to create more videos and recordings of these in the future. In the making is also their first CD.

The pianists
Alexandra Tinker (nee Zlatior) graduated from the Royal College of Music, London, UK, with a Bachelor of Music in piano performance (Hons) - First Class, in 2014 and a Master of Science in Performance Science - Distinction, in 2017. Furthermore, she was awarded the Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music Teaching Diploma (with Distinction) in 2015, by the ABRSM, and since 2021, Alexandra has also qualified as an examiner, assessing students of all ages in face-to-face and online performance exams, from all around the world. She has also adjudicated twice for the international Global Genius Music Competition.
Alexandra has played numerous solo, orchestral and chamber music concerts in the UK in venues such as the Southbank Centre, Imperial College, the Elgar Room at the Royal Albert Hall, the Royal College of Music, Victoria & Albert Museum, Charlton House and Waltham Abbey, but also internationally, in France, Greece, Japan and native Romania. Alexandra is passionate about psychology, well-being and pedagogy, and brings her knowledge and expertise to her pupils. She currently teaches at Surbiton High School, in Surbiton, Kingston, London. Alexandra also teaches a class of private pupils from the duo's music studio in New Malden area (South London), as well as online. Her students are keen musicians, often winning prizes in competitions and scholarships, and enjoying their musical journeys. |
Nathan Tinker obtained his Bachelor of Music with Honours from the Royal College of Music, in 2011, where he studied piano with Gordon Fergus-Thompson, composition with Jonathan Cole and jazz piano with Michael Moran. Nathan then graduated from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Distinction, in 2017, under the tutelage of Pamela Lidiard. He was awarded the Help Musicians UK Postgraduate Award as well as a fellowship from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
Primarily as a collaborative pianist, Nathan has performed in the UK, at the Barbican Centre, St. Martin's in the Fields, St. James's Piccadilly, the Royal Albert Hall and Wigmore Hall; and internationally, Corsica, Italy, France, Romania and his native Japan. Nathan has also enjoyed performances at festivals such as the Leicester International Music Festival and the George Enescu Festival. Nathan also runs a teaching studio where he teaches piano, violin, theory and composition as well as coach and accompany instrumental exams and chamber groups. He has taught all over London and most recently started working for St. Catherine’s School, Bramley. Nathan was also composer in residence at the Islington Festival of Music and Art between 2021-2022 curating an hour of jazz and contemporary classical compositions. In March, he released his first piano composition album, From, which catalogues works from 2011 to present. He is touring the album in Japan before returning to the UK for an official launch. When he is not busy performing and teaching, Nathan accompanies dance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and Rambert. He also accompanies classes for people living with Parkinson's for BalletBoyz and English National Ballet.
